Disruptive behavior typically is considered bad. No parent wants to hear from a teacher that their child is disruptive in class.
In business, however, being a “disruptor” can be good. A disruptor is a company that changes the traditional way an industry operates, especially in a new and effective way.
So it was an honor for PatientKeeper to be ranked #1 in the “HIM & Coding” category in Black Book’s recent survey, “Top 50 Healthcare IT Disruptors to Watch in 2018”. (In fact, we scored the highest (9.86) of any vendor in any category in the survey.)
PatientKeeper has a long history of disruption. Nearly two decades ago we delivered the first electronic charge capture solution on a mobile device – a harbinger of the demise of paper charge tickets – and we’ve been at it ever since. Today, PatientKeeper Charge Capture continues to offer medical billers and coders enormous flexibility, along with convenience and ease-of-use for physicians.
What disruptions are in the offing for 2018? We are broadening the reach of PatientKeeper Charge Capture to small and mid-size physician practices, and expanding our range of revenue cycle solutions to include hospital technical billing and professional charge-clinical note reconciliation. And then there’s our evolving suite of applications for automating physicians’ clinical workflow.
In healthcare, further disruption is both imminent and necessary. We’re happy to do our part – and to be called to account for it.
