Big Data, Big Company, Big Possibilities

One of the great things about being part of the leading healthcare provider organization in the U.S. is the opportunity to collaborate with people of great vision, and to help bring compelling visions to life.

For example, HCA’s CMO, Dr. Jonathan Perlin, spoke recently at a conference in Nashville about how big data is helping to transform healthcare – an oft-discussed “vision” that already is becoming reality. As reported in the Nashville Business Journal,  “HCA used data and tests run at three groups of hospitals to find the ultimate best practice to reduce conditions acquired in the hospital. Using the baseline of EMR data, the system implemented three different plans for reducing infections, eventually finding a solution that could reduce those infections — generally affecting one in 20 hospital patients — by 40 percent.”

This is the kind of exciting, technology-driven breakthrough in which PatientKeeper will be involved going forward. “As Perlin tells it, [HCA’s] experience illustrates how using data not only to improve one patient’s care but all patients’ can help create ‘a learning health system’ and ‘shape the care of the future.’”

As a healthcare IT company, we couldn’t find more energizing and important work.
