Using MemoKeeper, part of our Enterprise offering, healthcare providers create patient memos on a handheld device. Not intended to be a full-featured clinical notes application, MemoKeeper is intended to serve as a place to store important patient information for personal use, or to post to a patient's "chart" as a "sticky note" for other users to view it.

Security
MemoKeeper adopts the security features of PatientKeeper's Platform and Mobile Patient Index (mPI). You will only be able to access MemoKeeper if your IT administrator gives you authorization to do so. You will only be able to access data for which you have authorization.

Interaction with other PatientKeeperAapplications
PatientKeeper's Mobile Patient Index (mPI) provides the framework in which MemoKeeper operates. The mPI shows whether or not a patient has a newly created memo, or an edited one, by highlighting the patient's name. Tapping on the patient will highlight the MemoKeeper tab, indicating there is a memo to view for the patient.

Viewing Memos
Mark memos as being "public" and available for viewing by anyone, or "private" for your own use. For each patient in the your patient list, you receive all publicly available memos. Memos that have not been viewed are highlighted to get your attention. This view displays the memo number, memo name, and the date and time it was created or last edited. Sort the list by any of these fields, or "drag and drop" memos into whatever order you prefer. You can create categories for the memos, such as "pharmacy numbers" or "sign-out notes" and filter the memos by category, and to view public memos, private memos or both. By tapping on a specific memo you can see its content, category and "privacy status", and its time and date of creation/edition.

Creating a Memo
Within the screen for the patient's memo, the user can tap on "New" to create a new memo, then enter text and/or insert pre-defined stock phrases. The user can create and edit stock phrases using the PatientKeeper site. As indicated above, you can mark the memo as public or private. Private memos only reside on MemoKeeper on your handheld. In addition to being private or public, a memo may be marked as "semi-private". This latter type of memo is sent to other providers when the patient with whom they are associated is sent to other providers. The recipient user has the memo copied onto his or her list as a private memo. This can be an effective way to send brief sign out notes to other users, such as "discharge tomorrow if the coagulation labs are normal."

Editing a Memo
Select "edit" to edit any memo. The text will be displayed for revision, and the category can be changed as well. Note, however, that a public memo may not be marked as private or semi-private. However, private or semi-private memo can be marked as public after editing it. Upon synchronization, all public and semiprivate memos that have been created or edited are submitted to the Mobilizer server. The server handles synchronization conflicts by creating a duplicate memo.

Deleting a Memo
You can easily select to delete a memo. If the memo is private or semi-private, then the memo is deleted after confirmation. If the memo is public, you are prompted to decide if you want it deleted from your own list or all users' lists.
