GE HEALTHCARE TO UNVEIL A NEW MOBILE COMPUTING PLATFORM FOR PHYSICIANS AT MGMA 2005
WAUKESHA, Wisc. October 20, 2005 GE Healthcare announced today the release of Centricity® Physician Office Mobile (Powered by PatientKeeper®) a computing platform for physicians that extends the functionality of Centricity Physician Office to mobile devices such as PDAs and Smartphones. This new product will be unveiled at the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) 2005 Annual Conference in Nashville, TN on October 23 - 26. Centricity Physician Office Mobile allows physicians to access and manage their patient lists and schedules and to capture charges quickly and accurately -- from any location. Physicians can wirelessly sync or cradle their devices to connect with Centricity Physician Office. Charges captured on the device are automatically submitted, reducing the lag time between service delivery and charge posting. "Implementing mobile charge capture makes billing more efficient and improves the revenue stream for healthcare organizations that must closely manage medical costs," said Lisa Davis, chief executive officer of Reno Orthopaedic Clinic. "Centricity Physician Office Mobile can deliver hard dollar return on investment (ROI) and includes key functionality like rule checking and reporting tools." According to PatientKeeper, each year, physicians lose revenue because of the inefficiencies in manual, paper-based charge capture processes. Centricity Physician Office Mobile automates this process with a convenient electronic solution that saves time and delivers tremendous financial advantage. "With Centricity Physician office Mobile, I no longer use my coat pockets as a makeshift filing system," said Simeon Schwartz, MD, chief executive officer of Westchester Medical Group. "Our physicians became proficient after 15 minutes of use, and we anticipate that recapturing revenue that otherwise would have been lost will pay for the system many times over." Centricity Physician Office Mobile utilizes the award-winning PatientKeeper Platform, which has quickly become the standard for mobile healthcare computing, enabling secure, portable, two-way exchange of patient and clinical data for a group practice, single hospital, or even an entire healthcare enterprise. The PatientKeeper Platform provides application interoperability, context management, advanced security features, centralized browser-based administration and reporting capabilities. In addition, the PatientKeeper Platform supports a wide selection of handheld devices (Palm® OS and Windows Mobile®) and wireless and non-wireless transports (802.11x, Bluetooth®, WWAN, network cradles, infrared, etc.). "The platform approach offers GE's clients the ability to establish an effective long-term strategy for handheld computing technology, without fear of obsolescence," said David Henriksen, general manager of GE Healthcare's Centricity Physician Office. "Centricity Physician Office Mobile can save physicians time and increase revenue."
