Award-Winning Software Delivers Immediate
Competitive Advantage to Norton Healthcare, While Providing
Financial ROI and Infrastructure for Future Expansion
Boston, Mass. and Louisville, Ky. – September 26, 2006
– PatientKeeper®, Inc. today announced that Norton
Healthcare, Kentucky’s largest healthcare system with more
than 50 locations in the Louisville market, has selected
PatientKeeper as its physician information system. PatientKeeper
will help to deliver an immediate competitive advantage to the
organization, while providing the financial ROI and data-sharing
infrastructure to support future expansion. Rated one of the 100
top integrated healthcare delivery systems by Verispan, Norton
Healthcare can now provide its 1,900 physicians with a broad
range of software products from PatientKeeper that integrate with
their existing systems.
“After an extensive review of the marketplace, we
selected PatientKeeper for its track record of success and
innovation,” said Steve Hester, M.D., chief medical
information officer at Norton Healthcare. “With
PatientKeeper, we are giving our physicians an information system
that provides mobile access to information and the tools to
enhance patient safety and care.”
Only PatientKeeper is designed to support a physician
throughout the entire day, across all settings of care.
PatientKeeper’s applications allow physicians to access
their patients’ electronic records, write prescriptions,
enter charges for services, document patient encounters, and
securely send messages to other caregivers – all in a
single, integrated environment. PatientKeeper supports any tablet
or PC running a Web browser as well as Palm OS® and Windows
Mobile® devices. Physicians at Norton Healthcare will
use:

view of a patient’s entire medical history from any Web
browser

patient information – anytime, anywhere with PDAs and
Smartphones
- PatientKeeper Charge Capture™ to quickly and easily
record charges for services they deliver – at the point of

PatientKeeper will also serve as a MEDITECH Downtime Solution,
giving physicians uninterrupted access to patient information
even when the MEDITECH system is down.
“We are proud to welcome Norton Healthcare as a partner
and will work closely to address its current and future
needs,” said Paul W. Brient, president and CEO of
PatientKeeper, Inc. “We look forward to expanding our
partnership to find innovative ways to help Norton Healthcare
continue to provide its physicians with the best tools
possible.”
PatientKeeper’s physician information system has
consistently garnered increased market share because of its
innovative, integrated applications, in addition to direct and
HL7 integration options for MEDITECH customers. In fact, since
the beginning of the year, more than 80 MEDITECH hospitals have
selected PatientKeeper as their physician information system,
including some of MEDITECH’s largest customers such as
CHRISTUS Health System, a 42-hospital organization. PatientKeeper
has also integrated to all major hospital information systems and
electronic medial records (EMRs), including Cerner, Eclipsys,
Epic, GE Healthcare/IDX, McKesson, QuadraMed, Siemens, and
others.
