PATIENTKEEPER V3 FOR MEDITECH TO BE DEMONSTRATED AT 2005 INTERNATIONAL MUSE CONFERENCE

Support for PDAs and Desktop PCs, a Broad Suite of Applications, and Both Direct and HL7-Based Integration Options Provide Clients with a Complete Solution

BOSTON, MA – May 24, 2005 – PatientKeeper®, the leading provider of mobile software solutions for healthcare, today announced that PatientKeeper v3 for MEDITECH will be demonstrated at the 2005 International MUSE Conference in Las Vegas, NV scheduled from May 31 to June 3.

In addition to the ability to interface with MEDITECH using standards-based HL7, PatientKeeper offers its clients the ability to directly integrate the award-winning PatientKeeper Platform™ with MEDITECH Magic and MEDITECH Client/Server to provide the following MEDITECH-specific features:

  • Drop-in installation that allows clients to deploy enterprise-wide in as little as three to four weeks
  • Fully-integrated patient list management functionality that brings the MEDITECH patient lists and provider groups to the handheld, can auto-populate patient lists based on location and schedule, and allows physicians to add and remove patients on the handheld and have this list propagated back to MEDITECH
  • Extension of all MEDITECH configuration parameters and administrative data to eliminate the need for redundant administration
  • New medication list functionality that includes a complete history of medication administration (eMAR) as well as linked and split orders
  • Handheld support for MEDITECH VIP patient status so that sensitive patient identities remain hidden from unauthorized users
  • Support for consult orders so that providers can request a consult directly from their PDA
  • Single sign-on between PatientKeeper and MEDITECH, allowing end users to employ the same username and password on the handheld as within MEDITECH

"PatientKeeper enhanced the utility and adoption of our MEDITECH Information System," said Don Burt, MD, president, Berkshire Faculty Services, Berkshire Health System. "Because of their breadth of functionality and sophisticated integration capability, PatientKeeper can keep up with our physicians throughout their demanding workdays. In addition, when our MEDITECH system was temporarily down, our doctors could still access essential patient information through PatientKeeper."

PatientKeeper offers a broad range of mobile applications that support the workflow of physicians and other healthcare professionals. The products include: PatientKeeper Clinical Results™, PatientKeeper Charge Capture™, PatientKeeper Mobile Dictation™, PatientKeeper ePrescription™ (Powered by DrFirst), and PatientKeeper Reference Library™. In addition, PatientKeeper supports Palm OS®, PocketPC-based devices, and any tablet or PC running a web browser – allowing physicians to utilize the computer platform most appropriate and convenient for their work.

"With PatientKeeper, I get access to all the MEDITECH patient information when and where I need it," said Darrick Nelson, MD, associate professor, CHRISTUS Health. "I use PatientKeeper at the bedside to get the latest results and share them with patients so they understand the progress of their treatment. PatientKeeper saves time and helps me deliver the best care."

The PatientKeeper Platform has quickly become the standard for mobile healthcare computing, enabling secure, portable, two-way exchange of patient and clinical data for a group practice, single hospital, or even an entire healthcare enterprise. The platform provides inter-application messaging, context management, advanced security features, centralized browser-based administration, and reporting capabilities. The platform also supports a wide selection of handheld devices (Palm OS and PocketPC), tablets, PCs, and wireless and non-wireless transports (802.11, Bluetooth®, WWAN, network cradles, infrared, etc.). These capabilities allow healthcare organizations to establish an effective long-term strategy for handheld computing technology, without fear of obsolescence.
