PatientKeeper's Mobile Patient Index (mPI) is a key patient management module within the PatientKeeper mobile framework. Working together, the framework and the mPI allow multiple vendors' applications to be accessible under a single user interface. The user interface and workflow logic is based on our award-winning PatientKeeper Personal™, the medical profession's most widely used patient management tool. It delivers information to physicians based on their workflow. Physicians can sort, highlight, and select patients based on criticality, appointment schedule and many other factors, and then select an activity (e.g. order a lab, prescribe a medication, etc.) to support the care of that patient. Patient context is shared among all applications, providing caregivers with a single, complete view of each patient.

Patient Management Capabilities
Using the mPI, comprehensive patient information can be pulled directly from your institution's ADT, scheduling, and laboratory information systems and sent to physicians on their handheld devices. Users can configure the application to best suit their needs and workflow, such as by organizing patient lists based on their own rounding preferences.

Single, Intuitive User Interface
The mPI provides caregivers with an easy-to-use interface through which to access all mobile applications. This interface is based on the industry's most widely used patient management tool, PatientKeeper Personal, which is used by more than 40,000 physicians.

Fast Data Entry
The easy-to-learn user interface relies predominantly on pop-up lists, check-boxes, and multiple-choice items to enable data entry with only a few taps of the stylus. Users may view data cross-sections across all applications for a particular patient, or across all patients for a particular application.

Easy Navigation
The mPI provides a launching point for all of a physician's mobile data needs. Finding key information is as simple as tapping a patient's name and then tapping the appropriate application icon. It works seamlessly, even if a different vendor developed each of the applications.

Sharing Data
Using the mPI, physicians can send patient information to other physicians using a handheld device with an infrared (IR) port. As a result, physicians can expedite information transfer to covering physicians during sign-out. They can also quickly provide a consulting physician with the information she needs before a patient visit. Information can also be printed to infrared-enabled printers for inclusion in medical charts.

Customization
With the mPI, physicians can customize text boxes, shortcuts, and categories to aid them in easily capturing the information they need. For example, categories can be created for a user's inpatients, outpatients, and consults. Physicians may also define useful filters and sort orders for their patients.

Minimal Training
The mPI is designed by physicians for physicians to be simple and intuitive to use. As a result, training is fast and is included as a part of PatientKeeper's monthly service.
