Patientkeeper To Give Providers One-Stop Access To Patient Data From Multiple Systems At HCA Hospitals

Clinicians to Leverage Physician Information System as Single Point of Clinical Information Access to Enhance Safety and Improve Care

Boston, Mass. – February 13, 2008 – PatientKeeper®, Inc., the leading provider of integrated physician information systems, today announced that the PatientKeeper Physician Information System has been selected for use by Nashville-based Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).

The PatientKeeper solution will provide physicians with a unified, physician-centric portal to view their patient information by connecting disparate healthcare information systems across the enterprise and making that information available via Web browsers and Smartphones. The system is designed to make it much easier and more efficient for physicians to access clinical information, to better support physicians' daily workflows, and to dramatically extend the useful life of existing clinical systems.

"PatientKeeper is a critical component of our EHR strategy. Physicians often have to work with many health information systems and navigate screen after screen to get the patient information they need," said Dr. Jonathan Perlin, chief medical officer and president of the clinical services group for HCA. "As we add additional clinical systems such as PACS and Fetal Monitoring, PatientKeeper will pull information from these systems together with existing patient information. The result is a single system that physicians can access from a number of devices through a platform that is intuitive and physician friendly."

The PatientKeeper Physician Information System provides physicians, nurses and other staff anytime, anywhere access to lab and test results, medication histories, allergies, vital signs, inputs/outputs, PACS images, EKGs, fetal monitoring strips, schedules, and other important clinical information, all at the point of care, saving physicians valuable time while helping them practice medicine more effectively. PatientKeeper will integrate to HCA's existing MEDITECH systems as well as to other sources of patient information including McKesson Horizon Medical Imaging, GE PACS, GE MUSE Cardiology Information System, GE QS Fetal Monitoring, and Philips Series 50 Fetal Monitoring to ensure continuous access to clinical information even during unplanned system downtime.

"PatientKeeper provides both a business continuity capability for redundancy as well as an extensible platform to integrate new patient care systems which will support physicians," said Noel Williams, senior vice president and chief information officer, HCA.

"PatientKeeper has been historically known as a portal provider and mobile solution, but our real expertise lies in our ability to bring data from multiple, disparate systems together into a single physician-oriented solution that the physician can use in any environment - HCA represents a tremendous validation of that strength," said Paul W. Brient, chief executive officer, PatientKeeper. "By focusing on streamlining the daily work of the physician, we save them time and money by simplifying the patient care process."

The popularity of PatientKeeper's Physician Information System continues to grow because of its innovative, integrated portal and mobile applications, which have been integrated with all major hospital information systems and electronic medial records (EMRs), including Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE Healthcare/IDX, McKesson, MEDITECH, QuadraMed, Siemens, and others.
