PatientKeeper and Isabel Healthcare Partner to Enhance Patient Safety with Decision Support Tool

Isabel Healthcare Diagnosis Reminder System Integrated with the PatientKeeper Reference Library™

BOSTON, Mass. and LONDON, England - June 28, 2005 - PatientKeeper® Inc., the leading provider of mobile computing solutions for healthcare, and Isabel Healthcare, Inc., an award winning clinical decision support system, announced today that Isabel Healthcare's diagnosis reminder system is now part of the PatientKeeper Reference Library™. The Reference Library links patient information - such as lab results, medication lists, and patient notes - to the wealth of clinical knowledge available in third parties' medical references. The recent integration with Isabel Healthcare expands the depth of knowledge available at the point of care to include an interactive decision support tool that suggests likely diagnoses based on clinical features - symptoms, signs, and test results - helping reduce the risk of missing or making delayed diagnoses.

Together, PatientKeeper Reference Library and Isabel provide an electronic second opinion for healthcare professionals right at the point of care. While viewing patient information on a mobile device, the user simply taps on the PatientKeeper Reference Library link and Isabel can be automatically queried to return a list of possible diagnoses.

"This partnership can help enhance patient safety," said Timothy Watkins, M.D, a pediatrician in Boston, MA. "In a frenetic clinical environment, logging on to different systems to re-enter the same clinical data represents a barrier to using most clinical diagnosis support software. This partnership brings all the tools together right at the patient bedside where diagnoses and decisions about care are being formulated."

"Diagnosis support tools need to be easy, quick, and practical in a clinical setting or they will not be used," said Jason Maude, CEO and co-founder of Isabel Healthcare. "Using older diagnosis tools, it could take twenty to forty minutes to work up a limited list of possible diagnoses while searching the Internet or it could take several hours in a library to find the right information. Our partnership with PatientKeeper allows diagnosis support to be provided immediately anywhere it is needed."

Isabel's knowledge base contains over 10,000 disease diagnoses as well as drug-caused symptom diagnosis. The company recently released a bioterrorism differential diagnosis module.

"Isabel Healthcare is a recognized leader in clinical decision support tools," said Stephen S. Hau, vice president of marketing and business development for PatientKeeper. "Bringing their knowledge base to the point of decision on mobile devices and in the context of actual patient information will enhance patient safety and care."

Isabel Healthcare joins the growing list of companies who have partnered with PatientKeeper to deliver clinical reference material and decision support tools using the PatientKeeper Platform™. Reference Library partners include leading vendors such as Epocrates®, Lexi-Comp®, MICROMEDEX®, and Skyscape®.

The PatientKeeper Platform connects mobile devices with existing hospital information systems. Featuring an open architecture, it supports a broad and growing portfolio of mobile applications, including PatientKeeper Clinical Results™, PatientKeeper Clinical Desktop™, PatientKeeper Charge Capture™, PatientKeeper Mobile Dictation™, PatientKeeper ePrescription™ (Powered by DrFirst), PatientKeeper Reference Library, and more. The PatientKeeper Platform allows applications like Isabel to be rapidly integrated with PatientKeeper mobile applications.
