PatientKeeper Posts Strong Third Quarter As Healthcare Providers Recognize Clinical and Financial Benefits from Mobile Computing

Developer of Handheld Solutions Signs Nine Major Hospital Clients and Establishes Several New Partnerships

BOSTON, Mass. October 20, 2003 - PatientKeeper, a leading provider of mobile computing solutions for healthcare, announced today that orders for mobile enterprise solutions increased for the second straight quarter as healthcare providers recognize clinical and financial benefits from mobile computing. The Boston-based software firm said that during the third quarter of 2003, it added nine major hospital accounts and established several key partnerships.

"We are witnessing an acceleration of the mobile healthcare marketplace as providers utilize mobile computing to address strategic imperatives such as staff satisfaction and retention, controlling rising costs, and patient safety," said Paul W. Brient, chief executive officer of PatientKeeper. "Moreover, clients who deploy our point of care billing solution are enjoying revenue enhancements that can fund their entire mobile infrastructure many times over. Hospitals using PatientKeeper's charge capture solution have been able to eliminate lost billing, produce cleaner bills, and improve revenues by 15 percent or more."

PatientKeeper provides doctors and other medical professionals with a broad portfolio of mobile applications that integrate with existing healthcare information systems. The handheld solutions allow doctors to interactively manage patient information, test results, billing information, dictated notes, and other essential data.

"Mobility is a win-win for hospital management as well as the physicians," said Darrick Nelson, MD, CHRISTUS Health, Corpus Christi, TX."Doctors save time, get up-to-the-minute patient information, and have better control of what happens to their billing. Meanwhile, management gets a more controlled billing process, shorter lag times, revenue enhancements, and better utilization and adoption of IT resources."

During the quarter, PatientKeeper also established new partnerships with Park City Solutions, a leading eHealth integration provider, and scheduling.com, a leader in access management solutions, and expanded its collaboration with IBM. Other strategic partners that have embraced the PatientKeeper Platform include Cerner, MedQuist, and Thomson-MICROMEDEX.
